about yourY NETWORK
How We Got Started
the beginning of yourYnetwork
It all started when our founder (Leyla Karaha) was working on her social enterprise fintech idea in 2019 and found the journey to be very lonely. She wanted a supportive community around her where she can connect and learn from other social entrepreneurs who are on the same journey.
The first community networking event Leyla organised was during the Techstars Startup Week Dublin in October 2019 which had such a positive response, with over 120 sign-ups and nearly 90 attendees. The fact that some attendees had their "lightbulb moments" and discovered social entrepreneurship for the first time is a testament to the impact of the event.
Embracing Change: A Global Shift to Online Networking
How Pivoting to Virtual Events Expanded Our Reach and Strengthened Community Diversity
The decision to pivot to online community events when the lockdown started in March 2020 was a smart move. By taking the networking events online and aiming to reach a global audience, we were able to expand our reach and connect with social entrepreneurs from all over the world. This shift not only ensures the continuity of networking opportunities but also allows for greater diversity and inclusion of our community which align with our core values.

“Raising public awareness of social entrepreneurship is our crucial goal, and we are actively working towards it. By highlighting and celebrating the work of social entrepreneurs from around the world, we are not only showcasing their achievements but also inspiring others to get involved in creating positive social change,” said Leyla.

Our work is led by volunteers.
Our work is driven by the dedication and passion of volunteers who generously contribute their time, skills, and energy to support our mission. These individuals are at the heart of everything we do, providing invaluable expertise and hands-on assistance to ensure the success of our initiatives. By working together with a shared commitment to our cause, volunteers enable us to reach more people, amplify our impact, and create meaningful change within the community. Their selflessness and dedication are the foundation of our work, and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support.
Events
We organise our community networking events throughout the year. Watch this space!
Techstars community has been a big part of our journey with our first community networking event held during Startup Week Dublin back in October 2019 to our founder becoming a Techstars Community All-Stars in 2022. We have found our tribe in Techstars and embodied their motto of #givefirst.
Since 2021, we have been organising Techstars Startup Weekend events as our way of giving back and inspiring youth, women and social innovators to work on their tech business ideas. We have volunteered to organise Techstars Startup Weekend Women Dublin and Techstars Startup Weekend Social Innovation Dublin events.
